Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has done everything to put off the spectator on the day of the first Test between India and New Zealand at Uppal ( Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium) Other than providing a sporting wicket, the HCA has done precious little to make a spectator’s day out at the stadium an enjoyable experience.
the scene at the stadium was a total contrast, One could not complain even if toilets were dark, dingy, overflowing and stinking, the drinking water taps were dry.
Some audions are ready to pay 50/- for water bottle, apparently, it was not on the list of items HCA had asked the caterers to provide. The security was too low that one could sneak past three security posts with just a complimentary ticket.
On enquiry, MV.Sridhar new secretary of HCA said: “We definitely had some problems with drinking water on Thursday. It was not due to shortage of water. The vendor could not reach all the areas inside the stadium as he was short-staffed,” he said.
“From Friday, we will have our own people taking care of the needs of the spectators,” he added.
