CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy has reiterated that the Telangana decision is not in his hands and the central government is seized of the very sensitive issue only it can take a right decision at the right time.
Speaking at a programme on the second day of his Indiramma Bata in Mahbubnagar district on Saturday, he said the demand for separate Telangana had been pending for 56 years and any decision should not be taken in haste. Reacting to the slogans raised by some students at a meeting at Raghavendra Colony in Gadwal, he said the Congress government took up a lot of developmental activities without regional discrimination. “Why do you obstruct meetings of the Congress government which is taking up several development works in Telangana districts? Telangana’s status will not change because of mere raising of slogans. Only the Congress government can develop the region,” he said in a veiled reference to Mahbubnagar MP and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Kiran Kumar Reddy said his government was committed to the welfare of farmers and weavers. The government was making efforts to bring 20 lakh acres under cultivation by building new irrigation projects under the Jalayagnam scheme, he said and promised to sanction a degree college and a polytechnic or ITI college for Gadwal students.
